CNEWS Canoe reports out of Ottawa that a six year old girl with autism screamed as a suspected predator grabbed her hand in what is believed by family to have been an abduction attempt and that her screaming may have saved her. The girl had gone missing from a family barbecue and the family and friends had gone looking for her. A male friend of the family who helped in the search heard her scream and the suspected abductor fled. The family friend gave chase but was slowed by the need to take care of the child:
"She just screamed automatically and that is what drew the attention of my friend to go that way. He yelled, 'Hey!' and the man dropped Katrina. He booked it," Zion said Wednesday.
...
"Bad man grabbed hand," Katrina said after she was back with her mom. Zion said the man grabbed her daughter so hard he left a bruised handprint on her rib cage."
Police have released a description of the suspect.

Serves that man right, you don't mess with somebody with autism. If somebody grabbed my son he would probably freak out, not because he was being abducted though I don't know if he could put two and two together there, but because somebody touched him which unless you want to get attacked you do not do!
Thank God that this child was spared! I hope that they are able to get this guy and put him out of circulation before he hurts a child.

"Serves that man right, you don't mess with somebody with autism..."
Even if she didn't have autism, and even if he didn't know she had autism (which is very likely) he was still totally wrong! I'm glad that she could scream for help and that she escaped so soon!
"...Two days earlier, a man fitting the same description approached four young girls and asked them to dance for him. A neighbour chased him away, said Zion.
"The suspect is white, in his late 30s, about 5-foot-10 with a shaved head and a muscular, stocky build. He was wearing a dark green sweater and light grey or blue jeans. He also had a dark goatee.
"Anyone with information is asked to call police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5944 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477."
I'm also glad he was chased away before kidnapping any of those 4 girls no matter how many of them do or don't have autism!
